On Sunday 12th July 2015, we will all be treated to a rematch between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic with the Wimbledon 2015 title on offer. Federer, who got to this point by defeating British Number 1 Andy Murray on Friday, will have a shot at winning his 8th Wimbledon championship title. For Djokovic, who beat Richard Gasquet on Friday, he has a chance to be back to back champion of Wimbledon

Here are some interesting facts that you may wish to know before the match on Sunday

How they got here

Federer – As the No. 2 seed, the biggest challenge Federer has had to face so far came against Sam Groth. Groth has been the only player who has managed to take a set against Federer so far.

Federer was at his best when playing Andy Murray, hitting a massive 20 aces and 56 winners.

As for Djokovic, he also won his semi-final in straight sets. For the world’s No. 1 Tennis player, his biggest challenge came in the 4th round against Kevin Anderson. Djokovic lost the first two sets to Anderson, Djokovic then went on by winning the next three. Besides the scare against Anderson, Djokovic has also been in top form hunting down the final show down

Previous matches between Federer & Djokovic

One year ago, both players battled for five sets in the finals. Eventually it was Djokovic who ended up capturing the title, winning 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.

But, in 2012, Federer put Djokovic away in four sets in the semi-finals and went on to win the title two days later.

In both of their careers, they’ve met 39 times with Federer winning 20 of those matchups. So I think its fair to say that their 40th matchup should be a good one!
